Winter DrumLine is a music program providing students the opportunity to develop their technical and musical skills. Winter DrumLine concentrates on the performance of standard high school percussion skills and competes in the Kentucky Percussion Association Winter DrumLine circuit.. The competition season runs from February through March. The shows are a combination of a marching floor show put to music played by percussion instruments and are held at different high school gymnasiums throughout the area. The instruments used are marching percussion instruments such as snare drums, tenor drums, bass drums and cymbals and also concert percussion instruments such as marimbas, bells, xylophones, vibraphones, synthesizers and a host of smaller instruments. Being a part of the GCHS Winter DrumLine is a unique opportunity to play, perform, increase skills and knowledge, become better musicians, and make friends that will last a lifetime. Competition with other drumlines helps the members develop teamwork and learn life skills such as cooperation and negotiation. The success we achieve brings pride to the drumline members, their families, and the GCHS community.
