In 2010, Mr. Craig Fuqua was named Middle School Band Director for the Graves County Schools.  Mr. Fuqua began his teaching career at Caldwell County Middle School where he taught for five years before moving to Graves County.  At Caldwell, his middle school bands consistently received high ratings at concert festival.  The Caldwell high school band was also successful; including the first ever trip to the state marching band finals held in Louisville, KY.

Mr. Fuqua is a native of Graves County and graduated from GCHS in 1998.  After leaving Graves County he received his Bachelor's of Music Education degree from Murray State University in 2003.  While at Murray State he performed in many ensembles including the MSU Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Racer Band, and Brass Choir.  He also was a member of the MSU trumpet ensemble that placed in the top 10 nationally 3 consecutive years at the National Trumpet Competition in Washington DC.  In 2002 he was one of five Americans selected to perform at the WASBE conference in Lucerne, Switzerland with other musicians from around the world.  Mr. Fuqua also had the privilege to perform multiple times with the Owensboro Symphony.

After graduating from MSU he accepted an assistantship at Eastern Kentucky University to pursue a Master of Music degree focusing in trumpet performance.  While at EKU he had the privilege of performing with a variety of ensembles including the EKU faculty brass quintet, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Concert Band, and Trumpet Ensemble.  He also had the opportunity to perform with the Lexington Symphony on several occasions.

During his time at MSU and EKU Mr. Fuqua has had the opportunity to play and work with several world renowned musicians.  Some of these include:  Doc Severinson, Bobby Shew, Maynard Fergusson, Byron Stripling, Eddie Daniels, Thomas Bacon, Allen Vizzutti, Vince DiMartino, Keith Vincient, Ray Mase, Dave Samuels, and more.

Mr. Fuqua is very excited to be back in Graves County to help the very band program he was once in.  He currently resides in the Farmington community with his wife, Angie, and his daughter, Jaclyn Fuqua.
